Hancock County Auditor
Job Overview
The County Auditor is an elected full-time position
Offices are located in the Hancock County Annex and regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am until 4 pm
Fixed term of four (4) years, for eight (8) out of twelve (12) years
Job Requirements
Must be a US Citizen 18 years of age or older at the time of assuming office
Must be and remain a current resident of Hancock County
Responsibilities
Serves as secretary to the Board of County Commissioners
Serves as clerk to the County Council
Sets and reviews policies for internal controls and processes
Responsible for keeping accounts and auditing the record keeping and financial books of the county
Provides operational assistance to the Clerk, Recorder, Assessor, and other offices
Supervises about 10 full-time and part-time staff
Desired Qualifications (not required)
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or similar experience
Certified Public Accountant
10+years experience in budget management and account reconciliation for large organizations (with over $10M in revenues)
5+ years hiring, managing, supervising, and leading staff
