Indiana Senate District 28

The Indiana State Senate is the upper chamber of the Indiana General Assembly. Job Overview

Job Requirements

  • United States citizen at the time of the election

  • Be at least twenty-five (25) years old upon taking office

  • Registered to vote in the election district intending to represent no later than the date to file declaration for candidacy

  • Have resided in Indiana for at least two (2) years and in the house district for at least one (1) year before the election

Responsibilities

  • Create and vote on bills that make new laws or modify and update old ones

  • Research and be well-versed, familiar, and accurately informed on the important needs of the district

  • Represent all of the diverse constituents of the district

  • Host town halls and be available to constituents

  • Collect and respond to constituent feedback

  • Train and supervise staff members who engage with constituents

  • Be a good steward to taxpayer funds

  • Maintain economic prosperity for this district

  • Serve on various committees

  • Attend district and state functions

Desired Qualifications (not required)

  • History of Community Service or Military Service

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Experience running meetings, managing budgets, and setting policy

Compensation

  • $27,204 annual salary plus $184/per diem unvouchered, plus medical, dental, vision, short/long term disability, and term life benefits
