Nikki Carr, a lifelong Democrat, move to Fortville in 2014 with her husband, Rick Klemczewski. Prior to her time with the Hancock County Democrats, she had attended various rallies and donated to Democratic causes. She was moved by all the energy from the people involved in their efforts to make Indiana a more welcoming and inclusive place while maintaining our freedoms. When Roe v Wade was overturned, she made the decision to get involved and see if there was a place for her talents.
Nikki was also part of the 2023-2024 class of Emerging Leaders program through the Indiana State Democrat Party. This opportunity allows her to further education on campaign management, public policy and party building.
During the 2024 election year, Nikki also worked at the Democratic House Caucus, serving as campaign manager to a number of state house campaigns.
“I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and Constitutions. But laws and institution must go hand-in-hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.” - Thomas Jefferson
