Every organization has a story — ours began with people who believed in something bigger than themselves. They gave their time, talent, and heart to a purpose that continues to guide us today. This is our legacy.
For years, we grew in borrowed spaces and crowded rooms. Even then, our ideas expanded and our impact reached far beyond our walls. It became clear: a mission like ours deserved a home built to support it.
Our new headquarters is more than an office — it’s a milestone. It reflects the dedication, courage, and vision that brought us here, and the future we’re building together.
When you walk through our doors, you step into what’s next: a place where ideas grow, collaboration thrives, and innovation has room to lead.
Most of all, this space is a promise — that our legacy will continue, shaped by today’s work and tomorrow’s leaders.
It’s All About the Legacy We Leave
For years, this address has housed the law office of the McClarnon Law Office. Jeff McClarnon is a life-long Democrat and advocate for equality, family values and mental health. It is our honor to continue his legacy of public service right in the rooms he worked to protect and defend so many.
Due to the space needed, monthly meetings will remain at Buck Creek Community Center.
It is also important to us to continue spreading events around the county, to reach as many voters as possible.

Why the Rooster Appears in Our Logo
The rooster symbolizes energy, leadership, and the promise of a new day. For generations, Democrats have used the rooster as a symbol of civic engagement and grassroots participation. In Hancock County, however, the rooster is more than a national party emblem. It is a part of our local history. The use of the rooster as a Democratic Party symbol originated right here in Greenfield during the 1840 campaign, when local Democratic leader Joseph Chapman became associated with the phrase "Crow, Chapman, Crow." What began as political satire was embraced by Democrats and evolved into the rooster emblem that was later adopted by Democratic organizations across Indiana and eventually by Democrats nationwide.
Today, Greenfield is recognized as the Birthplace of the Democratic Party Rooster. In 1966, the Indiana Historical Bureau and Indiana Sesquicentennial Commission erected an official state historical marker at Riley Park on East Main Street (U.S. 40) commemorating this important piece of political history. The marker notes that the use of the rooster as a Democratic Party symbol originated in Greenfield and was later adopted by state and national Democratic parties.
For the Hancock County Democratic Party, the rooster is not only a tribute to our history, but also a reminder of our roots. Hancock County was built on strong rural communities where neighbors looked out for one another, lent a helping hand when needed, and understood that we all do better when we work together. The rooster reflects those values of community, hard work, and mutual care. It serves as a reminder that progress does not have to be complicated. Often, it begins by getting back to the basics: listening to one another, supporting our neighbors, strengthening our local communities, and ensuring that everyone has a fair opportunity to thrive.
