SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT AGENDA ITEMS AND KEY POINTS:
Budget meeting spent a lot of time going over budget lines. Spent more than an hour with the Tax lobbyist, Greg Gutteraz. They are still trying to figure out what the legislature is doing with SEA1–and struggling with what can go under the county tax rate cap when this is all said and done. Gutteraz says the legislature will be tweaking this a lot over the next two years. Library tax is a problem–since Hancock is the only county that does library funding this way.
Also received a report from the Fair board on how they spent a million dollars given to them this year. Have spent 979K on various projects. Will ask for an additional 500K next year for phases 2 and 3 of the project to maintain, renovate and expand some buildings at the Fair Grounds.
Allocated 300K out of federal opioid grant to Talitha Koum Recovery House
And another 300K out of the same grant to Church of God for a similar purpose.
And supported Commission in it’s approval of application for Aspire for 500K in the federal opioid grant.
