SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT AGENDA ITEMS AND KEY POINTS:
1. Greenfield Fire Territory Update by Chief Horning. Fire Territory funds are currently at $4,338,163.97 which is an increase of $1,250,000 from this time last year. This will be the first year they are not in net negative by the June reporting period. They are looking at being able to pay cash for one new ambulance (already ordered to be delivered 2027) and one new Engine to replace an aging engine. TBD when that will be ordered. $the current Police and Fire Public Safety fund is sitting at $7,500,000 approximately. Some of those funds will fund the new police station and cash for the new engine and ambulance. More to come on that.
2. A study is underway looking at the merger of Townships. Currently it appears that 4 Townships will merge. Center, Jackson, Brandywine and either Brown or Green. A 1 page synopsis of this is available in the meeting packet at the link above. More discussion and research is being done between State, County and Townships. This may happen as early as 2027 if feasible. Not sure yet what this will do to Township Trustees consumed and boards by other Townships. More to follow in future meetings.
3. Trustee Report. Current funds in the Trustee account are $782,400.00 approximately. This is with the fund gaining an interest rate through a state program of 3.62%. March is a slow period for Township assistance due to tax season and everyone getting returns back. 9 new applications and 2 repeats were taken with zero denials. $4,184.31 was issued in housing and rent assistance, $866.85 in assistance for utilities, and $1,400.00 in cemetery cremation assistance was issued for March 2026.
4. May 1st and 2nd are the Township Giveaway Days, where people in need can come to the Trustee offices and shop (free of charge) for clothing. The Trustee is partnering with the Giving Trunk (a local not for profit) for this Spring effort. Please consider donating gently used clothing to the Trustee office drop offs in the front and rear lobbies. They would like to do this multiple time per year.
5. Next meeting is scheduled for June 1st, but there may be conflicts so watch the above lined page for updates on the next meeting.
