Hancock County Board of Commissioners 12/16/2025
MEETING: Hancock Board Of Comm. Date: 12/16/25
Recorder: Terry Bynum
BACKGROUND:
Last meeting of year–lots of housekeeping–moving money around, paying bills, accepting and refunding bonds, receiving, opening and awarding annual bids for hiway dept.
SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT AGENDA ITEMS AND KEY POINTS:
Commission re-allocated opioid funds differently than suggested by Co. Council. Instead of $300K each to TK House (women’s transitional housing) and Greenfield Church of God (men’s transitional housing), they gave the men $500k and the women $100k. Justification was that the TK was already established, but there is no men’s housing, and this will allow the Church of God to establish their program and put both on an equal basis.
Second item of note and controversy, the commission approved the rezoning of a parcel northeast of Greenfield from Industrial Park back to Agricultural. They maintain that the I-3 project, which now owns the land and had planned a warehouse, is in breach of the original contract with the county, having failed to meet the required timeline for construction.
