SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT AGENDA ITEMS AND KEY POINTS
This is 3 meetings in one–Drain Board, Co. Comm, and Solid Waste District. All three handled routine business with really no surprises. There is continued animosity between Dede Allender, Director of the Solid Waste District, and the county attorney. She is continuing to work without a contract–she says they are at an impasse. Could result in her resigning.
There were several large expenditures discussed–for example, $1.6 million for replacing all the windows in the courthouse (over 100) as well as repairing/refurbishing or replacing all the doors.
And the 911 Center wants to replace all the batteries in its’ UPS system, to the tune of $16K.
Parks department asked the board to officially rename the new park in the south part of the county–it will now be Ninestar Park @ Sugar Creek (this by request of Spring Lake)
Finally, Leah Ledergram and Kylie Blalock spoke in the public comment portion. They are leading the fight against the Henry County Data Center. They asked the board to direct the planning commission to officially adopt a 1 year moratorium on Data Centers in Hancock Co.
They supplied an annotated biography of research with clickable links to the commissioners.
They quoted the commissioners remarks from several months ago when they rejected the Surge Data Center project. The board will take this under advisement
