I have spent my entire career providing security services. It did not matter if it was on an aircraft carrier helping secure our country or working for the police department helping secure our schools. I have spent time securing Marion County residents from murders, sex offenders and drug dealers and am currently providing security for the federal buildings in the state of Indiana. As Sheriff, I look forward to being able to provide security for all of the residents in Hancock County.
I am a proud Hoosier. My wife and I moved to Hancock County in 2022 and am the proud father of five children and four grandchildren. My youngest child graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 2025. I am a member of my community’s Homeowners Association and am currently spearheading the effort to form a neighborhood crime watch in my community.
I have 24 years of extensive law enforcement experience, as well as prior military experience. I served in the US Navy aboard the USS Constellation an aircraft carrier during the Gulf War. My law enforcement career began with the Indianapolis Public Schools Police in 1999. In this role I collaborated closely with the school’s administration to ensure students and staff were safe. I worked closely with children to develop conflict resolution strategies and prevent physical altercations.
In 2004 , I joined the Marion County Sherrif’s Department. In this capacity I worked in crime prevention, helping lead community based programs like Stranger Danger, Officer Friendly, and crime watch development. From there, I went to the Sheriff’s training academy as a lead instructor teaching use of force and firearms and other general classes. I worked in the fugitive warrant unit serving high risks warrants for murderers, drug dealers, sex offenders, and domestic violence suspects. Serving warrants with multi-agency task forces that includes the state police, US Marshalls, and local police across central Indiana.
Currently, I manage a team of over 120 officers who provide security for government buildings throughout the state of Indiana.
As Sheriff, I will focus on:
Building stronger community connections
Proactive crime prevention
Proactive monitoring of sex offenders
Deputy training (mental health crisis identification, in the jail as well as the community)
Recruitment and retention
Continue the current behavior court program
Fiscal responsibility and transparency
Throughout my career, I have worked to build trust between law enforcement and residents, emphasizing transparency, professionalism, and fairness. I believe the Sheriff’s Office must serve with both strength and compassion. I am committed to maintaining high professional standards by ensuring the staff are thoroughly trained.
I believe that public safety begins with trust, commitment, and community collaboration; ensuring that every resident feels safe.
