BACKGROUND:
Kammy’s Cause – Kammyskause.org
SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT AGENDA ITEMS AND KEY POINTS:
Old Business:
· Additional request for Kammy’s Kause to add 2 circus style tents
o One tent will be used for Kids Activities, and possibility a monster truck and a dump truck
o The second tent will be used for the stage live music at Fox Garden.
· Town of Fortville designated August as “Kammy Kause” month
· Main Street will be renamed “Kammy’s Street Durning the month of August
· A sign will be posted as you enter and leave Fortville
· Quick interview 5 candidates for the Police Commissioner position. Selected the original recommendation – Cory Munsell
New Business:
· First reading of Resolution No. 2026-78, an Ordinance Establishing A Registration and Inspection Program for Rental Housing Units Located Within the Town of Fortville, Indiana.
o Proposed changes – add definition of owner rights, who can file a complaint.
o Add verbiage pertaining to securing pets during an inspection
o Verify how many occupants can occupy a property
o Town Council will hear appeals
o Public Input: This is not necessary; overkill; questioned if there was a problem with rental properties in Fortville? The Council replied, “yes there is.” Many of the problem rentals are owned by landlords that cannot be located. Recommends remove the “occupancy requirements” states most landlords go by HUD recommendations.
o Town Council suggests working group with landlords to work out problems with resolution.
Public Comments:
o Concerned with the fireworks authorized the fireworks up until 12:00 and frightened her dog. Not in favor in this, maybe not so late and the whole week.
Departments:
o Town – Trail to school will put on hold. Redoing permits, if the project comes over 5% the project will have to be rebid. August the demo will start in Landmark park. No parking signs have been installed on Main Street.
o Planning & Building – The career center is opening on July 28. Will have several classes for students.
o Legal – New Indiana law modifying the application for public record – Fortville has updated to the “Public Record” requirements on the current website.
